Short Bio

Marcel Jomphe has been drawing and photographing nature as a professional since 1977. With the help of researchers from the National Herbarium of the Canadian Museum of Nature in Ottawa, he has illustrated plants, mushrooms, bryophytes, lichens and others for a permanent exhibition at the Museum. He has illustrated publications on grasses and sedges from Eastern Canada for the Quebec City University Herbarium. He has collaborated on more than 60 scientific articles and publications as a permanent botanical illustrator at Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada. He has participated in more than a dozen group exhibitions in Canada and the United States. He now works as an independent artist offering his works in print editions that he prepares himself.

Marcel Jomphe pratique le dessin et la photographie de la nature en tant que professionnel depuis 1977. Aidé par des chercheurs de l'Herbier national du Musée canadien de la nature d'Ottawa, il a illustré des plantes, des champignons, des bryophytes, des lichens et autres pour une exposition permanente au Musée. Il a illustré des publications sur les graminées et les carex de l'est du Canada pour l'herbier de l'Université Laval de Québec. Il a collaboré à plus d’une soixantaine d’articles et de publications scientifiques en qualité d'illustrateur botanique permanent à Agriculture et Agroalimentaire Canada. Il a participé à plus d’une douzaine d’expositions collectives au Canada et aux États-Unis. Il travaille maintenant comme artiste indépendant offrant ses oeuvres en éditions imprimées qu’il prépare lui-même.
